Regional Labour Market Study
Simcoe County and Muskoka Region employers have been asked to participate in a Labour Market study. Ten of the county and regional employment services organizations are working together with consultant Tom Zizys to study labour needs in both of the regions.
Employers were asked to complete a survey that will enable the employment service providers to peek behind the curtain and have a better look at the real versus perceived labour market in Simcoe and Muskoka. The response rate has been very good, and in an effort to get the best possible data, the decision has been made to extend our survey dead line.
The survey will be live until the 4th of May at 4:30pm. If you have not been sent an individual link, employers can reach the survey at the following link:

May 2nd - Step up to powerful goals
Presented by international consultant, Paul de Burger
This upbeat and interactive seminar will teach small business owners how to set powerful goals, build effective action plans, and “see the big picture” in their own entrepreneurial venture.
Far too many small business owners fly by the seat of their pants and wonder why their business never improves! This is often due to vague goals, a lack of planning, and a need for clarity around what they are hoping to achieve (and – more importantly – how they hope to achieve it!).
Key topics include:
• Setting powerful short- and long-term business goals using the STEP UP model
• The keys to acting on goals, instead of just talking about them
• Creating clear one-page yearly action plans
• Keys to effective time management and maximizing opportunities
• Finding the right balance between personal and professional time
• Increasing staff performance through clear communication of goals and business objectives

LABOUR MARKET STUDY
Employment service providers are interested in receiving your thoughts with regard to hiring criteria and skills challenges to better determine employer needs. As an Employer in Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka we are hoping that you will participate in this study by clicking on the link provided.
Your participation will help us to develop a clear snapshot of these districts and communities and will allow service providers to deliver employment market services that improve connections to the demand side of the labour market.
This study will help to identify gaps that may exist between employers, service providers and job seekers. Understanding and using this information from the demand side will help us to develop stronger and more successful linkages in the labour market supply chain.
Participants in our survey could win one of ten local prizes or the grand prize of an IPad!
